Some people love golf, and others adore it. Partnering with home builder Greg Alford on this distinctive project was a privilege, a testament to our reputation as a Dallas landscape design company. Inspired by the 13th hole and the azalea backdrop at Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia, this client sought Dallas landscape architects‘ expertise to create a full-scale short-game practice facility and a hitting bay for practicing with a full range of clubs. The undulating greens, complete with freeform bunkers, are surrounded by numerous chipping areas to refine your golf shots to perfection, a hallmark of quality Dallas landscape architecture. Tee boxes were strategically placed throughout the garden for practicing shots from various distances, as well as several angles and pin placements so the owner could perfect his game, truly embodying the innovative spirit of the top landscape architects in Dallas. Synthetic bunkers were used to reduce maintenance, and one real white sand bunker was used for true sand practice. Shot yardages range from chipping into a first cut of rough to full-wedge shots at 110 yards. A secondary putting green was added by the pool area, and finally, a dry creek bed was added in front of the green as a visual hazard.
